June 2013

A little summer time at home.

Playing in the creek up the canyon.

Jeremy and I were a ma and pa at our church youth conference. It was three days of trekking across Wyoming and it was amazing. When Jeremy and I lived up in Riverton we were able to be hosts at a place called Rock Creek. So we were so excited when we got the chance to go on an actual pioneer trek back in that same area.

 Our family pushing our handcart

The women's pull.  All of us girls had to pull our carts one at a time up a sandy and very steep hill, while all the men had to stand at the top in complete silence. It was tough but gave us all a greater appreciation for those pioneer women.  A lot of the men were sent off to war or gave up their food for their families and died of starvation and extreme exhaustion. Many women were left to get their staving and cold families the rest of the way across the plains alone. The stories of these pioneers are just unbelievable.
This old ranch dog walks miles each day to be at Martins Cove to see all the people that visit. Then at night he walks miles back home. So cute.

A big black storm rolling in over Rock Creek.
Such a neat experience that we will never forget. Huge thanks to Grandma Barker for taking the kids for us those three days.
Back home enjoying lunch with Papa John. It was a good thing we had our Wampum Bucks.;)...that's pretend money Papa John sends the kids and then used when he comes to visit for hamburgers or candy bars. The kids were pretty surprised the lady at McDonald's let them buy their food with Wampum Bucks.
Going for a tractor ride.
 Helping Papa John irrigate.
 The best water park around.

Pretty Hollyhocks in the backyard.
