Our good friends, Jason and Kodi and their cute little boys, came over one night so Jason (who's an electrician) could help us install some can lights in our kitchen and a few porch lights. While the guys (and Kodi) worked hard we all sat around and ate ice cream and played.
As it always goes with this old house of ours, NOTHING is an "easy" job. Everything takes more time and elbow grease. This is what Jeremy looked like after the lights were in.
4th of July fun at Grandma Barker and Rice's house.
Jeremy's mom bought a huge box of fire works and Ava and Luke had a blast setting them all off.
Ruthy fell asleep by Em in the middle of the show.
Ava had to copy every move Luke made that evening.
It was a fun night. BBQ and slip-n-slide followed by jeep and bike rides, s'mores and lots and lots of fireworks!
Ruth's summer naps on mommy and daddy's bed.
Water park fun with Rice and Grandma Barker.
Cheeser smile, flip flop wearing, little girl.
Horsey rides. To get her horse to go she politely says "Go..... peez."
I took tons of pictures like these of the kids holding up some of their big cards and school projects. Just another attempt to clean out the paper stacks. We kept the favorite ones and took pictures of the rest. The smiles got pretty forced towards the end.
My favorite new salsa recipe: 1 chopped pineapple, 1 can of drained black beans, 1/2 a red onion diced, 1 jalapeno, 1 sm. bunch cilantro chopped, 2-3 squeezed limes, salt and pepper to taste. It's a lot like mango salsa only way better!
A hike up to Stewart Falls with my Young Women's group.
Sometimes first thing in the morning Ruthy begs to get all dressed up and "mm-ants" which means dance. She loves to be twirled and her favorite song to dance to is a Taylor Swift song called "Stay this Little." It's a sweet little song and sometimes it makes her fall back asleep.
Sleepy from all that mm-ants-ing.
Sometimes she falls asleep on her rocking horse named Gary or sometimes she just does cool stunt riding.
A few more pictures on some cute cards from the kids. One night before bed Ava wanted me to help her find her purse that was missing. I impatiently told her it could wait till morning and that it was time for bed. She got sad and quickly scribbled something down on some papers. I later found those papers on my bed, they said: I love you mom. I ow you a dolr. The next day she found her purse and that night Jeremy and I each had a dollar on our pillows.
Another youth activity, the hugestest slip-in-slid! I didn't get a picture of the whole thing. This one only shows half of it. It was fun.
Pool party
Some big garden veggies.
Making salsa
We had so many butterflies, giant bumble bees and humming birds this year. Luke told me that one of his favorite things to do was to lay by the window to watch the butterflies and bees.
